Sun to sea: Is clean energy the answer to helping oceans and nature recover?

We're so pleased you can continue that in the second session on Clean Energy for Ocean Recovery.

A solar microgrid, a fishing cooperative and a mangrove restoration project rarely show up in the same investment case—even though the group's Sun to Sea pilot treats them as one bet, not three. That's what this group landed on in June: the technology already works. What's missing is governance, financing and value chains built to reward the long-term outcome, instead of treating energy, nature and economic development as separate problems.

Integrated investment models, not new technology, are the lever the group is testing next.

This session builds on three commitments: proving through pilots like Sun to Sea that clean energy, livelihoods and ecosystem restoration reinforce each other, shifting investment toward community-owned value chains instead of externally imposed ones, and telling stories that frame ocean recovery as part of food security and economic resilience rather than a standalone environmental ask.

The goal is a shared position the group can carry into its next pilot conversation.
