Belonging Over Burden
Belonging over burden: How the stories we tell can change politics
On behalf of Bellwethers, welcome back to the Nature & Climate House Studio series.
We're so pleased you can participate in the second session on From Burden to Belonging: Stories that Change Politics.
Messengers matter as much as the message. That's a crucial element this group landed on in June. A story about climate, nature or the shift to a green economy only lands if it comes from someone the audience already trusts.
The harder shift is psychological, though: moving climate and nature out of "burden"—a set of facts people are asked to carry—and into stories about belonging, agency and the future people want, told through everyday things like health, money, family and community.
This session picks up on that directly, identifying messengers from outside the usual climate space; mapping the wider ecosystem of funders, platforms and cultural voices that could carry those stories further; and testing where the group's collective influence is greatest.
